Girl, 17, murdered in Wiltshire named as Ellie Gould

A 17-year-old girl who was murdered in Wiltshire has been named as Ellie Gould.
She was a year 12 pupil at Hardenhuish School in Chippenham, Wiltshire Police said, and was pronounced dead at a house in Calne on Friday afternoon.
A 17-year-old boy, who was known to the victim, has been arrested on suspicion of murder; he remains in custody.
The force said its “enquiries continue to ascertain the exact circumstances surrounding Ellie’s death”.
Hardenhuish School said it was “shocked and saddened by the tragic death of Ellie Gould”, adding: “Ellie was a talented, popular and much-loved member of our school community who will be dearly missed.”
Superintendent Conway Duncan said officers “fully appreciate the level of shock, anxiety and upset in and around Calne and Chippenham and our officers are continuing to progress their enquiries as swiftly and diligently as possible”.
Mr Duncan added: “Ellie’s family will continue to receive support from specially trained officers and we are aware that her fellow pupils are being encouraged to seek support being organised by Hardenhuish School.”
