Girl, 15, shot in leg in ‘random attack’ in Greater Manchester

Written by on 04/02/2019

A teenage girl has been injured after being shot in a “random attack” as she walked down a road in Greater Manchester.

The 15-year-old was on Edge Lane in Droylsden on Saturday at about 7.15pm when she was shot in the back of her leg, police said.

Paramedics were called and took her to hospital where she is waiting to have surgery to remove pellets.

Police believe the gun was an air rifle.

Detectives are now looking for her attacker and said there will be more officers in the area as they “leave no stone unturned” to find them.

Greater Manchester Police Chief Inspector Mark Warner called for anybody with information to come forward.

“My thoughts are with the girl after this shocking incident,” he said.

“On the information we have at the moment this would seem to have been a random attack with complete disregard for the potential consequences – the girl was just walking down the road when she was shot at, now she requires surgery.

“We would like to hear from anyone with any information that could help us, please get in touch as soon as possible.

“This could have been you, this could have been your child and we want to find those responsible.

“The police investigation will leave no stone unturned, we want to be able to give the girl and her family all the answers they deserve.”
