Gary Barlow apologises after using confetti cannons at Eden Project show

Take That singer Gary Barlow has apologised after confetti cannons were fired over a crowd at his gig at the Eden Project in Cornwall.
The pop star was criticised by environmental campaigners following the move where fans were showered with small pieces of plastic.
Twitter account CornwallAgainstSUplastic wrote: “I was appalled to see plastic confetti littering the Eden project after your last gig there.
“What on earth (sic) was a plastic confetti cannon doing there?
“In a place such as the Eden who are working so hard at getting rid of SU plastics.”
Twitter user Miss Price added: “Wonder how long it will be before it’s made it’s way to the sea and we’re picking it up @GaryBarlow.
“Come on, it’s really not rocket science.”
Barlow, 47, was performing as a solo act on 6 June when the ticker tape was fired across the front of the crowd.
After being criticised over the move, he replied: “Apologies to @edenproject for firing our confetti cannons.
“I hope this doesn’t mean we won’t be asked back?
“We’ve cancelled all ticker tape at outdoor shows because the reality is, beyond the effect it just turns to litter.”
Another fan came to Barlow’s defence.
Samantha Simmons wrote: “Ticker tape is a lovely memory of the concert for fans!”
She posted the message with an image of a memory frame of her souvenirs from the day, which included some confetti and her access wristband.
The Eden Project is a popular tourist attraction in Cornwall, which has two biodomes containing plants from diverse climates.
It also serves as an educational charity that promotes sustainable living.
