Friends: Ross and Rachel’s reunion named best TV finale of the past 20 years

Rachel Green got off the plane, bringing the small screen’s favourite on-off couple back together forever – and making TV history.
Yes, the last episode of Friends has been named the TV show finale of the past 20 years, beating the likes of Breaking Bad and Buffy The Vampire Slayer to the top spot.
Viewers picked the final instalment of the comedy, which aired in 2004, from a list compiled by entertainment news website Digital Spy, with more than 5,000 people voting.

The website polled readers to celebrate its 20th anniversary, and also asked for the best TV show, best film and best actors of the past two decades.
Despite its controversial ending – which saw more than 1.8 million fans signing a petition for it to be remade – Game Of Thrones was named best TV show of the last 20 years, ahead of Friends, Doctor Who, Line Of Duty and Breaking Bad.
David Tennant beat Olivia Colman and Benedict Cumberbatch to be named best TV actor, while Tom Hanks was crowned best film star.
Best film was Avengers: Endgame, while Ant and Dec were named best TV presenters and I’m A Celebrity, which they host, won the reality show category.
Emmerdale’s Danny Miller took the best soap star title and the best moment on television went to EastEnders for the Slater family’s drama when Zoe Slater (Michelle Ryan) discovered her sister Kat (Jessie Wallace) was really her mother.
Digital Spy editor Laurence Mozafari said: “It’s rare for a website to still be going so strong after all this time, so to celebrate this landmark 20th anniversary we wanted to give our readers a chance to vote for their favourite entertainment moments.
“The biggest shock has to be Game Of Thrones, which still came out on top as best TV drama despite that controversial final season.”
