A grieving father has paid tribute to his three children after they died in a flat fire in Scotland.
Fiona Gibson, 12, and her brothers Alexander James, eight, and Philip, five, died in hospital after the blaze at the first floor flat in Paisley, Renfrewshire, at around 9pm on Friday.
Their mother, 39, is still in a critical condition at Paisley’s Royal Alexandra Hospital.
The siblings’ heartbroken father posted an emotional tribute to them on Facebook yesterday, saying: “May u rest in peace little angels.”
He later added: “How I miss them already, now I know what it feels like when ur world comes crashing down.”
Mr Gibson is understood to have been out of the flat when the fire happened.
Pictures from the scene showed the property with the upstairs windows smashed and walls blackened by ash.
Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon described the children’s deaths as “heartbeaking”.
She wrote on Twitter: “No words are enough. My thoughts are with all who loved these poor children. Fiona, Alexander and Philip – may you rest in peace.”
Mhairi Black, SNP MP for Paisley and Renfrewshire South, also tweeted: “Just devastating. All over Renfrewshire we are mourning for you Fiona, Alexander and Philip.”
The Renfrewshire & Inverclyde Police Division said in a statement: “An investigation is under way to establish the exact circumstances of this incident.
“Anyone who has information that could assist our enquiries should contact police via telephone number 101 quoting incident number 3669 of 19 June 2020.”
A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal, who investigates all sudden or suspicious deaths in Scotland, a spokesman added.
