Father of newborn baby stabbed to death on way to work in Hendon, northwest London

Written by on 02/03/2020

The father of a newborn baby was stabbed to death on his way to start a nightshift – just 15 minutes after leaving his girlfriend and child.

Officers were called to Hendon, northwest London, at 9pm on Saturday after being told that a silver VW Polo had crashed into a parked car.

The victim was found with stab injuries inside the Polo in Parson Street and died after being taken to hospital.

Detectives believe the 24-year-old, from Edgware, was attacked in a nearby car park minutes before the collision.

He has not been named by police and his family have been informed.

The victim was “arriving at the car park, in order to travel to work for a night shift”, said Detective Chief Inspector Andy Partridge.

He added: “He had just left his girlfriend and newborn baby at home in Edgware 15 minutes earlier.

“We believe the victim was parked up in the silver VW Polo in the car park in Stratford Road, off Bell Lane, minutes before the collision took place in Parson Street.

“We believe he was attacked in the car park.”

It is likely that people living on the Belle Vue Estate may have seen what happened, Mr Partridge said.
