F1 2019 car launches: When the teams will reveal their new cars

Written by on 11/02/2019

Mercedes and Red Bull will reveal their all-new 2019 cars on the same day as part of a frenzied Formula 1 ‘launch week’.

Two members of the grid’s ‘Big Three’ have selected Wednesday, February 13 to unveil the cars which are set to be among the favourites for race wins this season.

World champions Mercedes are shaking down their new W10 with Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas at Silverstone, while Red Bull are set to release images of their first Honda-powered car, the RB15, online.

Ferrari, the other team likely to be challenging for the world title in 2019, are holding a launch in Italy two days later, on Friday, February 15.

A first true glimpse at F1 2019 came with Haas – although the American team only revealed their revised black and gold livery, rather than the new car itself.

But with the full 2019 Haas car only likely to be launched just before testing, it is Toro Rosso who are currently scheduled to kick off ‘launch week’ on Monday February 11 with what looks to be an online reveal of their new STR14.

Williams are also releasing images on the same day, but only of their 2019 livery – which is expected to be tweaked following the departure of title sponsor Martini.

Renault have selected February 12, for an event at their Enstone base in Oxfordshire. Last year’s fourth-place championship finishers are set to have external expectations heightened this year by the arrival of seven-time race winner Daniel Ricciardo to partner Nico Hulkenberg.

Three cars are then revealed on February 13 as Mercedes and Red Bull are joined by the new-look Racing Point. The team formerly known as Force India, will reflect their new Canadian ownership by launching their season in Toronto.

It’s a Valentine’s Day reveal for McLaren, who enter their second season with Renault engines hoping for a big improvements from the new MCL34.

A handful of teams usually wait until the first morning of pre-season testing to show off their cars to the media and the newly-named Alfa Romeo team, formerly Sauber, have selected the hour before the track action begins on February 18 (7.20am GMT) at the Circuit de Catalunya to do just that.
