England v Windies: Watch pick of second day’s action at Headingley

Written by on 26/08/2017

Kraigg Brathwaite’s exceptional batting and wise use of the review system saw him score a sixth Test century on day two of the second Test at Headingley, with Shai Hope helping him make England toil.

Watch the video at the top of the page to see how Brathwaite’s 134 from 249 balls and a maiden Test ton for Hope (147no) lifted Windies above England’s 258 all out in Leeds and to 329-5 by the close, a lead of 71.

Brathwaite and Hope put on 246 for the fourth wicket, with the former twice reprieved by technology after being given out lbw in the morning session, firstly against Stuart Broad and then Moeen Ali.

The opener got an inside edge onto Broad’s pitched-up delivery, while he was struck outside the line by Moeen’s – Brathwaite reacting to his second lifeline by dumping Moeen for six.

That lusty blow took Brathwaite to fifty and he nailed his ton in similar fashion, walloping Tom Westley for a maximum shortly before tea.

Brathwaite was given tremendous support by Hope after the latter’s brother Kyle (three) and nightwatchman Devendra Bishoo (one) were caught behind off Jimmy Anderson, who has now taken 495 Test wickets.

Hope is still at the crease and the effervescent Jermaine Blackwood (21no) is with him after Brathwaite was bowled by Broad and Roston Chase (five) snicked Ben Stokes behind.

Live coverage of the second Test continues on Sky Sports Cricket from 10am on Sunday with a Coaching Clinic from Nasser Hussain and Rob Key on one-day batting preceding the live action at 11am. You can follow over-by-over commentary and in-play clips with our live blog on Sky Sports digital platforms.
