England duo Moeen Ali and Steven Finn suffer injury scares ahead of the Ashes

Written by on 02/11/2017

England’s Moeen Ali and Steven Finn will both undergo scans after picking up injuries ahead of the Ashes series.

Ali has been troubled by soreness in his left side and will undergo a precautionary scan in the next 24 hours amid fears he has suffered a side strain.

The all-rounder misses training on Thursday and will not play in England’s opening warm-up match against a Western Australia Cricket Association XI in Perth on Sunday.

Seam bowler Finn jarred his left knee during practice at Richardson Park on day three of England’s warm-up training programme. He will also miss England’s warm-up game at the WACA this weekend.

The 28-year-old was a late addition to the squad following doubts about Ben Stokes’ participation in the five-Test series.

England arrived in Australia last Sunday and their Ashes programme gets underway with the first Test in Brisbane on November 23.
