Emiliano Sala missing plane search decision set to be taken on Thursday morning

Guernsey Police will make a decision on Thursday morning as to whether they will recommence the search for the missing plane that was taking footballer Emiliano Sala and pilot David Ibbotson to Cardiff.
Guernsey Police confirmed at 5:10pm on Wednesday that the search had been called off for the day, with Channel Islands Air Search having confirmed earlier in the day that it is now a recovery rather than a rescue operation.
The call will now be made on whether to continue the search for the light aircraft that went missing over the English Channel on Monday.
“After an intensive search using multiple aircraft and one lifeboat over the last nine hours, we have found no trace of the missing plane,” Guernsey Police said in a statement.
“With the light now fading, the search will shortly be suspended for the night.
“A decision about whether to recommence will be taken early tomorrow [Thursday] morning.
“There will be no further updates tonight.”
