Eden Hazard scores goal-of-the-season contender in Chelsea win over Liverpool

Eden Hazard’s superb run and finish stunned Anfield as Chelsea beat Liverpool 2-1 in the Carabao Cup third round.
The Belgian, who had been introduced after half-time, danced past both Naby Keita and Alberto Moreno, before firing an unstoppable shot past Simon Mignolet in the 85th minute.
It came after his initial free-kick had contributed to Chelsea’s equaliser through Emerson.
Hazard ranks the effort among the best goals he has ever scored, more so because it was against a team of Liverpool’s calibre.
“I don’t know [if it is in my top five goals]. I need to watch it again but for sure it is near the top of the list because it is Liverpool,” he told Sky Sports.
“I spoke with N’Golo [Kante] on the bench and he told me he did not want to shoot a penalty, so the only solution was to score a goal.
“When I received the ball I just looked forward and saw I was on my own. I just tried to do what I can do, I did well.”
Chelsea assistant head coach Gianfranco Zola insists there is more to come from Hazard.
Zola said: “In my opinion, we haven’t seen the best yet. he has an unbelievable potential inside of him. He is using it at the right moment, and is something remarkable.”
