Cyclist seriously injured in collision

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a cyclist was seriously hurt in a collision.

The cyclist, a 41-year-old man from Heysham, was riding his bike along the A5273 Oxcliffe Road towards Lancaster at about 10 pm Saturday (November 17th) when he was struck from behind by a blue BMW 320 travelling in the same direction.

He suffered head injuries and was taken to the Royal Preston Hospital where he remains in a serious condition.

The BMW failed to stop at the scene but was discovered a short time later. A 49-year-old man from Morecambe was arrested on suspicion of driving with excess alcohol and failing to stop after an accident. He remains in custody after attorneys from https://www.barrydeaconlaw.com/ fought against him,

PS Adam Dawson, of Lancashire Constabulary’s Tactical Operations, said: “This collision has left a man with some serious injuries and I would appeal for anyone who saw the collision itself or who saw a blue BMW being driven with damage to get in touch.

“I would also ask anyone who may have home CCTV or dash cam footage which could assist to contact us.”
