Cork lead the way in U21 Hurling Team of the Year

Written by on 17/10/2018

Beaten All-Ireland finalists Cork lead the way with six representatives in the 2018 Bord Gáis Energy U21 Hurling Team of the Year.

Ger Collins, Niall O’Leary, Billy Hennessy, Mark Coleman, Robbie O’Flynn and Tim O’Mahony excelled in the ‘Blood and Bandages’, and their performances have been rewarded.

The Rebels won the Munster Championship and having seen off Wexford in the All-Ireland semi-final with ease, were expected to overcome Tipperary for the second time in the campaign. However, the Premier caused a huge upset in the decider, winning 3-13 to 1-16.

Liam Cahill’s side have five representatives. Killian O’Dwyer, Brian McGrath, Robert Byrne, Ger Browne and Jake Morris have all been recognised for playing their part in the All-Ireland triumph.

Leinster champions Galway have two on the side, as do Wexford.
