A woman’s body has been found on a beach in Suffolk and the parents of missing Chelsie Dack have been informed, police have said.
Suffolk Police received a call at 8pm on Monday from a member of the public who came across the body in Sizewell, around 30 miles along the coast from where Ms Dack was last seen.
A post-mortem to establish the identity of the woman has yet to take place. While the cause of death is currently being treated as unexplained, it is not believed to be suspicious.
Ms Dack, a 23-year-old estate agent, was reported missing from her home in the seaside town of Gorleston in Norfolk at 3am on 20 April.
Police, the coastguard, RNLI and Norfolk Lowland Search and Rescue all began searching for her, with help from the coastguard helicopter, but the hunt was called off after two days.
CCTV footage showed her walking towards Gorleston pier, where her mobile phone was found by a member of the public later that morning, and police said the “most likely scenario” was that she entered the water.
A Facebook post, shared by Chelsie’s mother Dawn Howell at the time of her daughter’s disappearance, said it is “strongly believed Chelsie has taken her own life”.
The coroner’s office has been informed.
