Championship midweek preview: Wolves, Cardiff and Aston Villa all in action
Written by News on 13/03/2018
Cardiff could move level on points with Sky Bet Championship leaders Wolves if they beat Brentford on Tuesday night.
Wolves’ 4-1 defeat at Aston Villa on Saturday means the gap between themselves and the Bluebirds is now just three points, with Villa four further back.
While Cardiff are in action at Griffin Park, live on Sky Sports Football and Main Event, Wolves will be attempting to get back to winning ways at home against Reading, while Villa host QPR.
“I’m not happy but a word to our fans: It’s a long season, the supporters have been fantastic – this moment is tough for everybody and them, especially because it is a midlands derby,” said Wolves boss Nuno following Saturday’s defeat.
“We need them and Tuesday is the next step. Let’s look at this game but let’s focus also.”
Barnsley will be hoping to move away from the relegation zone as they welcome Norwich to Oakwell. The Tykes are hovering just above the bottom three with two points separating themselves and Birmingham and Burton.
Albion, meanwhile, could climb out of the relegation zone if Barnsley lose and they win away at play-off chasing Sheffield United.
Elsewhere, Ipswich host Hull at Portman Road.
See Sky Bet Championship goals as they go in on Soccer Special on Sky Sports News from 7pm on Tuesday.
