Brooke Shields sues British company over eyebrow pencil
Written by News on 09/05/2019
Brooke Shields is suing a British make-up company for selling an eyebrow pencil she claims is cashing in on her well-known brows.

US entertainment sites TMZ and the Blast say they have seen court documents detailing her case against Charlotte Tilbury Beauty, which sells a pencil in a “Brooke S” colour.
The lawsuit says the “brow lift” product interferes with Shields’ ability to officially endorse other make-up and create her own products.
It reportedly says her “bold eyebrows have been the trademark of her look” and she has spent time “developing potential opportunities to create her own cosmetics line with an emphasis on eyebrow-enhancing products”.
In a statement to Sky News her attorney said that Shields’ career as a model, actress, author, and entrepreneur spanning decades made Brooke and her eyebrows a household name and added that her eyebrows have been her trademark since Time Magazine declared her “the ’80s look” in 1981.
The statement added that Charlotte Tilbury and its related retailers had attempted to profit off from Shields’ signature look by stamping her name on an eyebrow pencil without her consent.
Shields’ attorney, Alex Weingarten of Venable LLP said: “This is an egregious violation of Brooke’s rights, which we will litigate vigorously to vindicate.”
She is also said to be suing retailers including Bloomingdale’s, J.C. Penney and Nordstrom to stop them selling the product.
Charlotte Tilbury Beauty was created by the British make-up artist of the same name and is headquartered in Hammersmith, west London.
Shields already has her own clothing line and jewellery line sold via shopping channel QVC.
Shields rose to fame as a child model and actress and later got Golden Globe nominations for her part in sitcom Suddenly Susan.
