Barrow man sent to prison for drugs offences

Written by on 05/02/2018

A Barrow man has been sentenced for drugs offences.

Steven Culleton, 24, of Amphitrite Street, was handed 20 months in prison at Preston Crown Court on Friday (February 2nd), after he previously pleaded guilty to the following charges:

– Possession of cannabis with intent to supply
– Possession of a Class B drug (a-pvp)
– Being concerned in the supply of cannabis

Culleton called police on January 4th 2016 to Low White Close, Barrow, reporting that he thought his property was being robbed. When officers attended, he told them he thought someone was trying to break into the flat.

Police arrested a male in the property who was believed to be involved in drugs offences. He was later released with no further action to be taken.

A search of the house led to cannabis being recovered along with drugs paraphernalia, including ultra violet lights, empty plant pots and cannabis leaves.

The cannabis and leaves were analysed as having a street value of more than £1,000.

Officers also recovered a clear plastic food container with a quantity of white rock power residue on – later confirmed as a-PVP.

Culleton was arrested.

Detective Constable Sarah McArthur: “I welcome the sentence passed and am pleased to see that we have removed yet another drug dealer from our streets.

“These suppliers cause such significant damage to our communities, and will never be tolerated in our county.”
