Ashley Giles close to becoming England director of cricket

Ashley Giles is close to becoming the next England director of cricket, Sky Sports News understands.
Andrew Strauss stepped down from the role in October in order to help support his family while his wife Ruth battles cancer.
Negotiations between the ECB and Giles are ongoing, with terms yet to be agreed.
The appointment would see Giles return to international cricket having been sacked as head coach of England’s limited-overs side after the 5-0 thrashing in the 2013/14 Ashes series in Australia.
He has since taken up coaching roles with Lancashire and Warwickshire, guiding the Bears to promotion to Division One of the County Championship this year.
The ECB hopes to have someone in place before England embark on their tour of the Caribbean in January.
