Anthony Russell: ‘Extremely dangerous’ double murder suspect hunted as police find third body

Written by on 30/10/2020

Police hunting a man suspected of killing two people have found a third body which could be linked to him.

West Midlands Police have warned that Anthony Russell, 38, is extremely dangerous and should not be approached by members of the public.

He is being sought by detectives following the murders of mother and son Julie and David Williams, aged 58 and 32, earlier this week.

Mr Williams was discovered in a flat in Riley Square, Coventry, on Monday 26 October, and his mother was found at home in a nearby flat in Riley Square the night before.

On Thursday, police announced a missing woman’s body was recovered on Newbold Comyn, Leamington, just over 10 miles from the site where the Williams’s bodies were located.

West Midlands Police said: “We have information which suggests Russell may be connected to the death.

“Anyone who sees him has been asked not to approach him but to contact 999 immediately.”

The causes of the deaths have not been released.

Russell has links to Coventry as well as Warwickshire, and is known to sleep rough.

The woman found today has not yet been identified.

Assistant Chief Constable Jayne Meir said: “I can’t stress enough how important it is that we find and arrest Russell, and we really need the public’s help to do that.

“Anyone who knows where he is or sees him should not approach him, but call 999 immediately.

“We know he sometimes sleeps rough, and is a drug user.

“It’s early in the investigation, but we have information to suggest that Russell may be linked to the death of the woman found near Leamington today.

“We are working hard to identify her, and to find and arrest Russell.”
