Adrian Dunbar: Line Of Duty’s ‘Ted Hastings’ in talks to record album

Written by on 23/07/2019

As much-loved anti-corruption officer Ted Hastings in Line Of Duty, the memes of actor Adrian Dunbar were prolific on social media during the last series – especially a tuneful mash-up of his famous “bent coppers” saying.

But now it seems the actor is going into the studio himself, with reports that he has been approached about recording an album.

According to the Belfast Telegraph’s Sunday Life, the 60-year-old actor played in bands for years and previously fronted his own group, Adie Dunbar And The Jonahs.

In an interview with Sunday Life, the actor, from Enniskillen, County Fermanagh, in Northern Ireland, said: “I’m hoping to do something in the recording studio this year and I’ve had a couple of approaches about doing things.

“I don’t know what I’m going to do – it might be interesting to write a few songs or something – but definitely I’m going to do something.

“I was in bands many years ago, so that’s where it started. I played in bands, sang backing vocals and all the rest of it.

“That was always something that was there and I just never got a chance to do it.

“I started acting and that went away and you focus on other things, but I’ve always kept it going and I’ve always done gigs with friends of mine, a lot of jazz gigs in Ronnie Scott’s and stuff like that over the years.”

Dunbar, who became famous for his one-liners as no-nonsense gaffer DCI Hastings in Line Of Duty, said his style would be “country jazz” and that there could be a tour “if everything works out”.

Mother of God! Now we’re sucking diesel.
