Aaron Ramsey could have played last Arsenal game after limping off injured ahead of Juventus move

Written by on 19/04/2019

Aaron Ramsey was forced off with injury against Napoli – prompting concerns he could have played his last game for Arsenal.

The Welsh midfielder pulled up holding the back of his left leg in the first-half of Arsenal’s Europa League quarter-final second leg in Italy.

Ramsey now faces wait to discover the extent of the injury – with the prospect that a serious problem could rule him out for the rest of the season.

He will leave the club at the campaign to join Juventus on a free transfer.

Arsenal have five league games remaining and are into the semi-finals of the Europa League after a 1-0 win in Italy saw them Advance 3-0 on aggregate against Napoli.

It’s not clear at this stage how long Ramsey will be out for but a long injury could bring an an abrupt end to his 11-year career with Arsenal – and afterwards manager Unai Emery hinted it could be touch and go for Ramsey to return to the first team

“It’s a muscular injury and usually it is going to mean some weeks outside the team,” he said.

“I don’t know [whether he’s played his last game for Arsenal].”

Despite his guaranteed exit at the end of the season Ramsey has remained an influential figure in Emery’s side as they continue to battle to qualify for next season’s Champions League – either with a top four finish in the Premier League, or by winning the Europa League outright.

Arsenal return to league action on Sunday against Crystal Palace.
