Liam Payne says a One Direction reunion is on the cards – but will Zayn Malik be there?

It’s nearly 10 years since One Direction were launched into the world via Simon Cowell’s talent juggernaut, The X Factor.

Now Liam Payne says the 1D boys are in talks to mark their decade milestone in July.
However, while Payne told The Sun he’d been in contact with Harry Styles, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson, he made no mention of Zayn Malik.
“We’ve got a 10-year anniversary coming up so we’ve all been speaking together a lot over the last few weeks which has been really nice.
“To hear a lot of people’s voices and seeing old content and different things that we haven’t seen for a long time or never seen before, it’s very interesting.
“At the moment I’m not sure what I’m allowed to say. There’s a number of different things that we are all working on to try and make happen and people are forwarding emails around.
“But more than anything it’s just been a real good time for us to connect together again.”
Malik quit One Direction in 2015, leaving the band as a four-piece.
The boys went on indefinite hiatus the following year.
Following his departure, Malik has called the band’s music “generic” and claimed he never really wanted to be part of it.
In various interviews since going solo, the band members have all variously implied they were never close.
So far, the youngest member of the band, Harry Styles, has had the most success in his solo career, releasing a critically acclaimed album, touring the world and co-chairing the 2019 Met Gala.
Malik has released two solo albums, adopting a more alternative R&B style.
Payne has released his debut album, and become a father with former Girls Aloud star Cheryl.
Tomlinson has appeared as a judge on The X Factor, formed his own record label, released one album and become a dad too.
Horan has released two studio albums.
