Duchess of Sussex due back in Britain for first time since moving to Canada

The Duchess of Sussex is due back in the UK later for the first time since stepping down from royal duties with Prince Harry.
Tonight, she will attend the annual Endeavour Fund Awards at Mansion House in the City of London
The awards celebrate the achievements of wounded, injured and sick servicemen and women who have taken part in sporting and adventure challenges over the last year.
Meghan was last seen at a public engagement in the UK on 7 January during a visit to Canada House in central London with Harry.
The following day, the Sussexes released an unexpected statement announcing that they wished to pursue a financially independent life, and step down as working royals – splitting their time between the UK and North America.
As the news broke, Meghan flew to Vancouver Island in Canada to be with their nine month old son Archie, who had stayed in the country following their extended family Christmas break.
In the first couple of weeks she was seen visiting women’s charities, in pictures that appeared on social media.
She was also photographed getting on a seaplane and was seen in a park carrying Archie and walking her two dogs.
Largely, Meghan has kept a low profile over the past two months, but how the Sussexes view the new “deal” that they have done with the Royal Family for a more independent life has been made very clear on their Sussex Royal website.
They have made it obvious they have not entirely got the sign-off for the life they wanted, including being told they must drop the word ‘royal’ from their Sussex Royal brand.
Prince Harry has already been back in the UK for a week, carrying out engagements in Edinburgh for his eco-tourism initiative Travelyst, and meeting singer Jon Bon Jovi at Abbey Road studios for a special recording session with the Invictus choir.

Tonight’s event is the first of three joint engagements to be carried out by the couple, anticipated to be their last official royal duties, and culminating on Monday with the Commonwealth Day Service at Westminster Abbey.
It will be the first time we will have seen the couple with other members of the Royal Family since they made their announcement to step away.
