Boy, 3, and driver hurt after car overturns and hits house in Northumberland

A three-year-old boy has been hurt and a driver seriously injured after a car overturned and hit a house.

The youngster was a passenger in a white Ford Focus which flipped at a roundabout in Ashington, Northumberland on Sunday evening.

The vehicle destroyed a garden wall and ended up against a terraced house at 8.45pm.

The 30-year-old driver was taken to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough with serious spinal injuries, Northumbria Police said.

The young passenger was taken to Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital in Cramlington with minor injuries.

No one in the house was hurt.

Northumbria Police is investigating and has appealed for witnesses or anyone with CCTV in the area or dashcam footage to come forward.
