Billie Eilish hits out at Nylon Germany’s naked ‘fembot’ cover

Billie Eilish has hit out at a magazine which altered her image to make her look like a “shirtless” cyborg.
Nylon Germany digitally manipulated a photo of the singer for a cover of its latest edition, turning her into a bald, apparently topless, robot.
The magazine shared the image on Instagram, announcing it to followers as “the supernatural fembot face of the future”.
Eilish, who was directly tagged in the post, reacted angrily to the image.
She wrote in the comments section: “youre gonna make a picture of me shirtless?? thats not real?? at 17? and make it the cover???? even if the picture was supposed to look like some robot version of me… i did not consent in any way.”
The teenage singer has previously said she wears baggy clothes in order to stop people from sexualising her or commenting on her body.
Eilish said she was also unhappy they had removed all her hair, leaving her completely bald.
The magazine initially responded, defending the cover as “a piece of 3D artwork” intended to honour rather than insult the teenage singer.
It has since removed the image, which was created by artist Marcel C Wilkens.
Eilish is one of three celebrities to have been manipulated for the cover, with German social media stars Lisa and Lena appearing together on a second version.

The magazine says the feature will “tell the stories of three digital prodigies who are redefining the future of being a Teen Superstar”.
Eilish has had two top 10 hits this year, and performed at both Glastonbury and Reading and Leeds Festival.
The break-out star has appeared on numerous magazine covers including Vogue Australia, Rolling Stone and Billboard – with her full consent.
