Love Island star Theo Campbell loses sight in one eye after champagne cork accident

A Love Island star has revealed he has lost sight in one eye after a “really unfortunate accident” involving a champagne cork.
Theo Campbell, who appeared on the 2017 series of the ITV2 dating show, said his right eye “got split in half” after he was reportedly struck by the cork while on holiday in Ibiza.
The 28-year-old posted a selfie on Instagram showing his heavily bandaged eye, alongside his girlfriend, fellow former Love Island contestant Kaz Crossley.
“Thanks for all the messages and support I’ve got over the last couple days they’re all very much appreciated,” he wrote.
“So yeah, basically, two eye surgeries later after a really unfortunate accident, I’ve lost all vision in my right eye as it got split in half – who would have thought a champagne cork would be the end of me?
“But I still have one eye left, looking at the bright side of things.”
Campbell thanked Crossley for flying out to be by his side in hospital, before adding: “If anyone knows where sells cool eye patches let me know.”
He signed off his post with hashtags mentioning one-eyed fictional characters Captain Hook and Thor and the US rapper Fetty Wap, who also has one eye.
