Unsettled weather on the way for the UK and Ireland

After a record-breaking bank holiday, a more unsettled band of weather is on the way for most of the UK and Ireland.
Temperatures of over 33C (91F) were registered over the weekend as thousands gathered for events such as the Notting Hill Carnival and Manchester Pride.
But a yellow Met Office warning for thunder and lightening has been put in place for most western parts of the UK, and it will mark the beginning of more unsettled weather.
While the heat of the August bank holiday is still being felt in parts of England, it looks set to subside.
The cooler spell is also set to bring rain to the UK and Ireland into the weekend, with wind speeds expected to pick up.
“The August bank holiday saw the heat reach 33 degrees Celsius, over 90 Fahrenheit, in parts of the country,” said Sky News weather producer Chris England.
“But that will have fallen by at least 10 degrees to the mid-twenties Celsius by the end of the week.
“It looks like being unsettled to end the week and through the weekend, with widespread showers and spells of more prolonged rain spreading from northwestern areas.
“But the South East will be dry for much of the time.”
The bank holiday’s record-breaking heat was caused by warm air from France and follows a relatively wet and cold August.
