Home Office stabbing: Man charged with GBH after civil servant injured

Written by on 19/08/2019

A man has been charged with grievous bodily harm (GBH) with intent after a civil servant in his 60s was stabbed outside the Home Office last week.

Dominic Hornberger, from Birmingham, was also charged with possession of a knife in a public place at Westminster Magistrates’ Court.

He appeared before magistrates on Saturday but details were only released by police on Monday.

The 29-year-old was charged on Friday and was remanded in custody to appear at Southwark Crown Court on 13 September, Scotland Yard said.

The victim, who works at the nearby Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government, went to the Home Office for help after suffering knife wounds in the street attack on Thursday.

His injuries are not life-threatening.

The London Ambulance Service said in a statement it had treated a man at the scene and taken him to a major trauma centre.

Metropolitan Police officers were called to Marsham Street in central London shortly after 1pm, following a report of a man with a knife.
