Paul McGrath: Ex-Manchester United star thanks social media users after son Paul Jr found

Former Manchester United and Ireland footballer Paul McGrath has thanked social media and the police for their help after his son Paul Jr was found.

The 59-year-old wrote on Twitter: “Thanks to the power of social media & Metropolitan Police my son Paul has been located the love and support shown to myself and my family has been phenomenal.

“From the bottom of our hearts we thank you….❤️ #greatful”.

Earlier, the ex-international defender said the family were “very concerned” about Paul Jr, who is in his early 20s, and said police had been informed he was missing.

McGrath had written: “Please retweet. Looking for social media help please.

“Has anyone seen my son Paul in around Hale, Manchester, London or any airports in the past few days?

“Police have been informed but we are very concerned and someone somewhere might have spotted him.”

More than 35,000 people responded to his request and retweeted his appeal.

McGrath spent seven years of his career at Old Trafford before heading to Aston Villa in 1989.

He also earned 83 Ireland caps and is regarded as one of the country’s greatest players.
