Drake and Draymond Green share heated exchange after Raptors NBA Finals Game 1 win

Written by on 31/05/2019

Toronto Raptors superfan Drake and Golden State forward Draymond Green shared a heated exchange at the conclusion of Game 1 of the NBA Finals.

The pair traded words as the Warriors left the court following their 118-109 loss in the ScotiaBank Arena.

Whatever was said appeared to amuse Golden State guard Stephen Curry who stifled a smirk as he walked towards the locker room.

Drake, who wore a Raptors jersey bearing the name of Curry’s father Dell – who played for Toronto for the final three seasons of his 16-year NBA career – had engaged in trash talk with the Warriors players during the game.

The flashpoint was the latest incident sparked by Drake from the Raptors sidelines during the postseason.

In the Eastern Conference Finals, he heckled Giannis Antetokounmpo while the Milwaukee Bucks star attempted to take free throws.

In the Raptors’ Eastern Conference semi-final series against the Philadelphia 76ers, he mocked Joel Embiid’s signature ‘Airplane’ celebration as the Sixers big man left the court after a sub-par performance.

At the post-game press conference, Green was asked for his thoughts on the spat, described by the reporter as a post-game scuffle.

“You got a question about basketball?” he asked. “It wasn’t really a scuffle because I didn’t hit him and he didn’t hit me or I didn’t push him and he didn’t push me.

“We talked. We barked a little bit but I wouldn’t necessarily consider that a scuffle, not really. Not what I would personally consider a scuffle.

Game 2 takes place in Toronto in the early hours of Monday morning (1am) live on Sky Sports Arena
