Cow & Gate recalls Cheesy Broccoli Bake baby food

Baby food manufacturer Cow & Gate has recalled jars of its baby food over fears they contain blue rubber.
The recall alert issued by the company and by the Food Standards Agency (FSA) says “small pieces of thin blue rubber glove have been found in some jars in this batch”.
They are recalling one batch of the 250g jars of Cheesy Broccoli Bake Stage 3 (10+ months), with a best before date of 28 December 2020.
The only batch number concerned is 28122020 and the small jars are sold in Asda, Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons and Boots.
Cow & Gate are recalling the product, despite it apparently not posing a risk to health, because it does not meet the company’s “usual high quality standards”.
The FSA said: “If you have bought the above product do not feed it to your baby. Instead, return it to the store where it was bought, with or without a receipt, for a full refund.”
Cow & Gate said: “We are taking this action because some jars in this batch have been found to contain small pieces of thin blue rubber glove.
“The product does not pose a health risk, but we are recalling it as it does not meet our usual high quality standards. We are therefore asking parents not to feed Cheesy Broccoli Bake with this best before date to their babies.
“We are sorry that this happened and would like to reassure parents that this is an isolated incident.”
People who want more information are being directed to call Cow & Gate’s 24-hour care line on 0800 977 4000 or speak via the company’s live chat.
