Stormzy has scored his first ever UK number on the Official Singles Chart with Vossi Bop – his first single since 2017.

Clocking up 12.7 million listens, Stormzy claims the biggest week of streams ever for a rapper – smashing the previous figure set by Drake’s In My Feelings by over two million – and the fifth biggest streaming week of all-time.

The London-born rapper, who is preparing to headline Glastonbury, also claims the second biggest first-week combined sales of 2019 so far with 94,500 – second only to Ariana Grande’s 7 Rings which opened with 126,000 combined sales in January.

Speaking to OfficialCharts.com, Stormzy said: “Words don’t really do it justice. I’m genuinely, for once in my life, speechless!

“My supporters have had my back like crazy – this is all you guys, thank you so much.”

Named after a viral dance move, Vossi Bop sees the grime star performing in front of iconic London locations including Westminster Bridge and the Bank of England.

Actor Idris Elba makes a cameo appearance alongside him in one scene, in which both stars are dressed in black and wearing shades.

During the track Stormzy takes a swipe at the government and Boris Johnson, rapping: “I could never die, I’m Chuck Norris; f*** the government and f*** Boris.”

Stormzy is then joined by dancers with briefcases and distinctly Boris Johnson-esque blonde wigs – which are quickly discarded as he holds his middle fingers up to the camera.
