The production, which will star Phoebe Waller-Bridge, will have a limited four-week run in London’s theatreland.

Waller-Bridge, who was recently confirmed as a writer for the upcoming James Bond movie, wrote the one-woman play.

It will be the last time she will perform the role.

In a typically Waller-Bridge statement, she simply said: “Looooonddddooooonn!!”.

Fleabag is a tragi-comedy which follows a woman trying to navigate the trials of life, appearing emotionally blunt and sexually liberated.

The play has just finished a sell-out run in New York at the Soho Playhouse off-Broadway, and the second season on BBC Three was well-received by audiences and critics.

Fleabag the play first previewed at the Soho Theatre before its Edinburgh Festival debut in 2013. It then made it onto TV screens in 2016, winning Waller-Bridge a BAFTA Award for best female comedy performance.

Tickets go on sale today at 3pm.

The play will begin previews on 20 August 2019 with an opening night on Wednesday 28 August at 7.30pm at Wyndham’s Theatre.
