Man shot and stabbed to death in east London

A man in his 20s has died after being shot and stabbed in Manor Park, east London.
Police were called by the London Ambulance Service at around 9.30pm to reports of a man being attacked on Church Road, E12.
The Metropolitan Police said in a statement: “At the scene a male, aged 20s, was found suffering from what are believed to be knife and gunshot wounds.
“Despite the efforts of medics, the male died at the scene.”
Police are trying to contact the victim’s next of kin.
Officers remain in the area conducting inquiries and a crime scene is in place.
The mayor of Newham, the London borough in which the attack took place, tweeted her condolences, calling it a “devastating incident”.
Rokhsana Fiaz said: “Myself and the Deputy Mayor @grayee (John Gray), were at the scene last night providing reassurance to local residents and those there who knew the victim.”
It comes after three teenagers were taken to hospital after being stabbed within minutes of each other in the Waltham Forest area of northeast London earlier on Monday.
They did not sustain life-threatening injuries.
Last week, a man appeared in court charged in connection with a series of knife attacks in the Edmonton area of north London.
Those attacks began on a Saturday evening and continued until the next morning.
One of those victims was a 45-year-old woman who is now paralysed after her spinal cord was severed.
