Scottish Tory MP Ross Thomson denies claim of ‘sexual touching’ in Commons bar

Written by on 08/02/2019

A Scottish MP has said allegations he groped men in the House of Commons bar are “completely false”.

Ross Thomson, the Conservative MP for Aberdeen South, issued a statement after reports of “sexual touching” were made with allegations levelled against him.

He said: “A series of serious allegations have been made against me that have featured in the media.

“I would like to state these allegations from anonymous sources are completely false. No complaint has been made to the Police, Parliament or Conservative Party.

“Nevertheless in the interest of openness and transparency I am referring myself to the Conservative Party’s disciplinary panel of the code of conduct.”

He added that it had been a “distressing time” for him and his family, but that he planned to be back at work on Monday.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed they had attended the Commons bar on 5 February after reports of “sexual touching”.

The statement added: “Officers attended and spoke to the parties involved – three men in their 20s and 30s. However, no formal allegations were made to the officers and no arrests were made.”

No police caution was given either.

The Conservative Party indicated this week they would investigate the allegations.
