Ashley Cole’s combined Arsenal-Chelsea XI

Written by on 05/02/2019

Ashley Cole selected the best XI of his former Arsenal and Chelsea team-mates on Monday Night Football – and there was a controversial selection up front.

The former England international won three Premier League titles, seven FA Cups, one League Cup, the Europa League and the Champions League with the London sides during his career.

But which of his former colleagues would make it into his combined XI?

After mulling over the right-back slot before selecting Branislav Ivanovic ahead of Lauren, and going on to select his current Derby boss Frank Lampard in midfield, Cole had the tricky task of picking his front two.

“He’s definitely one of the best players I’ve ever played with, he’s a great guy… but I’ve got to leave him out,” said Cole.

“Bergkamp.”

Jamie Carragher was stunned!

Watch Cole defend his selection and explain why Didier Drogba made it into his team ahead of the Dutchman in the video above.
