Baby Consy was born seven weeks premature on 23 December, and had been in hospital ever since.

Andersson, who appeared in the second series of Love Island in 2016, had been sharing photos on Instagram and Twitter following her birth to thank fans for their “prayers, messages and healing”.

She has now announced the tragic news of Consy’s death.

“Completely in love with you.. and my Mum just wanted you to be with her,” she wrote.

“Your time wasn’t ready yet. Mummy loves you. I stayed with you each day.. you opened your eyes one last time for me and I saw those beautiful big brown eyes. I’m so sorry I couldn’t do anymore. Go be with grandma Consy. My angel. Rest in peace CONSY GLORIA EMMA ANDERSSON-KEMP 23/12/18-22/01/19.”

Consy was named after Andersson’s mother, who died of cancer in 2017.

The reality TV star has received hundreds of messages of support on social media for her and partner Tom Kemp, whom she met after her appearance on Love Island.

Kady McDermott, who starred in series two of the show with Andersson, said: “Oh Malin my heart aches for you I’m so sorry, sending you all my love and strength right now, stay strong xxx.”

Jessica Hayes, who won series one, posted: “I’m so sorry for your loss Malin my heart is broken for you I can’t even begin to imagine what your going through, sending love and prayers x.”

And Ellie Brown, who starred in the last series, said: “Oh my god, the world is so cruel. I am so sorry, sending so much love and strength to you right now xxxx.”

Fans had been following Consy’s progress since her birth on 23 December, when Andersson said she was being cared for at Great Ormond Street Hospital due to complications.

After that, she posted updates on Twitter and Instagram, saying in one: “All your prayers, messages, healing.. it means the world to us. Baby Consy is still in intensive care, and fighting each day.

“This has been the most difficult time I have ever gone through. I just want to hold her.. It’s different to my mum last year. My mum was ready to go.. my little girl isn’t. She has given me the ultimate purpose in my life and I’m not prepared to let her go.”

Charities have also offered the star their support.

Stillbirth and neonatal death charity SANDS replied to her post on Twitter, saying: “We are so so sorry to hear baby Consy has died. We are always here to support you whenever you need us, best wishes, Sands.”

Bliss Baby Charity posted: “We are so sorry to hear the heartbreaking news about Consy. We’re thinking of you and your family at this time.”

Last year, one of Andersson’s Love Island co-stars, Sophie Gradon, died suddenly at the age of 32.

At the time, Malin posted a picture on Instagram paying tribute, saying: “I met you on Love Island and you brought such laughter into my life, up until now. Your smile is one of a kind and you have always been a beautiful soul inside and out.

“All I know is that you’re an Angel up there and in a better place. This world is cruel.”
