Gwyneth Paltrow says Brad Pitt ‘scared’ Harvey Weinstein

Gwyneth Paltrow has spoken out about how her former boyfriend Brad Pitt confronted Harvey Weinstein, saying the actor “scared” the now disgraced producer.

The Oscar winner was one of the most high-profile women in Hollywood to accuse Weinstein of sexual misconduct as the #MeToo and Time’s Up movements erupted a year ago.
When she was 22, after signing up for her role in Emma, Paltrow claims the movie mogul placed his hands on her at a hotel and asked her to give him a massage.
In an interview with Marie Claire magazine, Paltrow said Pitt made his feelings clear to Weinstein after she told him what had happened.
Now 46, she told the magazine: “I am so grateful to Brad, because he leveraged his power and fame to protect me, when I was no one, and he scared Harvey.
“And if it hadn’t been for him, I don’t know if I’d have gotten fired, or what.
“But instead, Harvey was like, ‘Okay, let’s put it behind us’. I think he wanted to keep Brad on side.”
Weinstein produced some of Paltrow’s biggest films, including Sliding Doors and Shakespeare In Love, as well as Emma.
Following the scandal which emerged last year, starting with a story published by The New York Times exposing allegations made by actresses including Ashley Judd and Rose McGowan, he is now facing sexual assault charges relating to three women, as well as misconduct and harassment allegations made by dozens of other women.
He denies all allegations of non-consensual sex.
Paltrow, who dated Pitt from 1994 to 1997, married her partner Brad Falchuk at the weekend.
She spoke about marriage in the interview, saying she had previously not been sure she would do it again following her divorce from Coldplay’s Chris Martin, who she has two children with.
“I think that marriage is a really beautiful, noble and worthwhile institution, pursuit and endeavour,” she said. “Because I don’t think you get married and that’s it, I think it’s the beginning.
“You create this third entity, this third being that you have to nourish and look after.
“For a while, I thought, I don’t know if I’d ever do it again. I have my kids, what’s the point?
“And then I met this incredible man, who made me think, no, this person is worth making this commitment to. I’m very much the marrying kind.
“I love being a wife. I love making a home.”
