Team Sky ‘confident’ Chris Froome will race in Tour de France

Team Sky are “confident” Chris Froome will ride in this year’s Tour de France, despite reports in France claiming race organisers have banned him.
Froome remains under investigation after recording an adverse analytical finding for excessive levels of the asthma drug salbutamol following a urine sample during last year’s Vuelta a Espana.
Froome has denied any wrongdoing but French newspaper Le Monde reported that Tour de France owners Amaury Sport Organization (ASO) have blocked the four-time champion from competing at this year’s race, which starts on Saturday, July 7.
In response to the report, a Team Sky spokesperson said: “We are confident that Chris will be riding the Tour as we know he has done nothing wrong.”
Sky Sports News have contacted ASO for comment.
Froome is permitted to continue racing while awaiting the results of the ongoing investigation and has already vowed to compete in this year’s Tour.
When asked if he would be at the start line when the Tour de France begins, Froome told Sky Sports News: “Definitely. I have done nothing wrong here. I have every right to be racing.
“Through this process, I am allowed to demonstrate that I have done nothing wrong and I am fully expecting to be exonerated by the end of this process.”
