A 15-year-old boy has been charged with murder after a teenager was stabbed to death in Sheffield.
The 15-year-old from the Lowedges area of Sheffield has been remanded into custody and will appear in court on Monday.
The victim, also 15 years old, was killed on Thursday evening – the second fatal stabbing in the city this week.
Police first received reports of the stabbing around 7.50pm on Thursday. The boy was taken to hospital but died an hour later.
A post-mortem examination found he died as a result of stabs wound to the chest.
The victim has not yet been formally identified, but his family has been informed.
On Tuesday night, 19-year-old Ryan Jowle was stabbed in the chest in the Woodhouse area of Sheffield. He died the next day at the Northern General Hospital.
A post-mortem found he died of a stab wound to his chest.
Frank Kiongaze, 22, of Gleadless, Sheffield, was charged with murder on Saturday in connection to the death of Mr Jowle.
He was also charged with possession of a bladed article, police said.
Police in the city were given additional stop-and-search powers after the two incidents.
“This weekend we’re considering some, maybe, additional powers that we may wish to use, that we don’t like to use on occasions, around stop-and-search,” said Chief Superintendent Stuart Barton.
“We get to some points when we think what more can we do, how can we support people, how can we give people that presence?”
He said any powers would cover “certain areas” rather than the whole city.
