England will look to use Jonathan Joseph to unsettle Wales fly-half Rhys Patchell in their Six Nations clash at Twickenham on Saturday.
England have made just two changes to their starting XV, with scrum-half Danny Care coming in for the injured Ben Youngs and centre Joseph replacing Ben Te’o, who moves onto the bench.
Eddie Jones revealed that he has a ‘gut feeling’ about Joseph and that his defensive qualities could unsettle the Wales No 10.
“It’s just my gut feeling that he (Joseph) will start the game well against Wales,” said Jones at the England press conference.
“JJ has got great experience, he is fast and a great defensive player. Every time Patchell looks up, he is going to see JJ in his vision – that is not a great sight.
“We were very happy with Benny Te’o last week – he played really well for us.
“It was his second game back and in my experience with players, their second game back from a long injury is always the most difficult game. So we will use him off the bench this week – we will use him as a finisher.”
At scrum-half, Care will start against Wales in place of the injured Youngs, while Richard Wigglesworth looks set to win his first cap since 2015 if he comes off the bench.
“Richard Wigglesworth has been magnificent – truly professional,” added Jones.
“He is 34, trains like a 24-year-old and speaks like a 55-year-old. He is really handy – a great addition to the squad.”
