Man held after bank worker ‘held at gunpoint’ in Birmingham

A man has been arrested by armed police after he allegedly held a bank worker at gunpoint.
Police sealed off the NatWest bank in Northfield, Birmingham, earlier after reports that an armed man was inside.
The Birmingham Mail reported that it understood a number of staff members had been held hostage.
It added that it was unclear whether any customers had been caught up in the incident.
A short time later, police confirmed a man had been detained.
Before the arrest police said: "Police received an emergency call at 11.45am reporting a man with a firearm inside NatWest bank in Bristol Road South, Northfield.
"Response and firearms officers have contained the building and police negotiators are on scene."
There were no reports of any injuries.
