Claude Puel in advanced talks to become Leicester’s new manager

Claude Puel is in advanced negotiations to become the new Leicester City manager, according to Sky sources.
The 56-year-old Frenchman has been out of work since June following his sacking at Southampton despite finishing eighth in the Premier League and reaching the EFL Cup final.
The Foxes parted company with Craig Shakespeare a week ago and were initially satisfied that, in caretaker Michael Appleton, the squad was in good hands in the short-term.
But it is understood they are concerned they are looking at the same candidates as Everton, who recently dismissed Ronald Koeman. Burnley’s Sean Dyche has been the frontrunner for both jobs.
David Unsworth has taken temporary charge of Everton and has confirmed his intention is to land the job full-time at Goodison Park.
The two teams meet at the King Power Stadium this weekend and that game is part of a Nissan Super Sunday double-header.
Sky Sports News reported on Tuesday evening that Leicester’s search for a new manager had intensified, with former Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini among their considerations.
However, Leicester and Everton’s interest in Pellegrini would be increasingly difficult to progress because of his current £36m deal at Hebei China Fortune.
Former Manchester United winger Ryan Giggs also threw his hat into the ring by declaring on Tuesday he would be keen on managing Leicester or Everton.
Puel, who was boss at Nice until he moved to England’s south coast 18 months ago, won only 12 of his 38 Premier League games last season as the Saints ended the campaign only six points above 17th.
