Eddie Jones names 33-man England squad for training camp

Written by on 22/09/2017

James Haskell has been left out of an England training camp ahead of this November’s autumn internationals.

The Wasps forward is not included in a 33-man squad named by coach Eddie Jones, who has also omitted Sale winger Denny Solomona and Bath centre Jonathan Joseph.

Solomona was sent home from a previous training camp by Jones following "team culture issues".

Harlequins’ 18-year-old fly-half Marcus Smith and Piers Francis of Northampton are included, although there is still no place for in-form Bath winger Semesa Rokoduguni.

The players will meet up in Oxford this Sunday for the three-day camp.

England’s three Test matches are against Argentina (November 11), Australia (November 18) and Samoa (November 25).

Jones said: "This camp in Oxford is a really positive opportunity for the group to come back together and sharpen our focus and preparation ahead of our first match against Argentina.

"This is our most important game this year and we want the players to come away from the camp having trained well with a clear plan of how we want to play and win against the Pumas.

"I think in the last two years we have established a good base and we’ve got some credit in the bank now it’s about finding the 31 players that can win the World Cup for us.

"That’s what the project is about for the next two years, so we are about to embark on that."

Jones will name his squad for the autumn internationals on 26 October.
