Monaco will make an approach for Leicester City striker Islam Slimani once they have sold Kylian Mbappe to Paris Saint-Germain, Sky sources understand.
Sky Sports News understands Mbappe is expected to join Monaco’s Ligue 1 rivals in the next 72 hours and that deal will be contingent on them making an official move to find a replacement.
Slimani, a £29m signing from Sporting Lisbon last summer, has also attracted interest from Leicester’s fellow Premier League competitors Watford and Newcastle as well as other clubs across Europe.
The 29-year-old has appeared in two Premier League so far this season, both off the bench, and he scored twice in Leicester’s 4-1 Carabao Cup win over Sheffield United last week.
He scored seven Premier League goals in his first season in England but was never able to secure a regular berth in Leicester’s starting XI.
