Collision, Windermere

At 3:15pm hours on Saturday 12th August 2017 a road traffic collision occurred involving a white Mercedes mini bus and a pedal cyclist on the B5285 between Far Sawrey and the Windermere ferry.

The pedal cyclist, a 50-year-old male from the Northumbria area, had been travelling towards the ferry from Far Sawrey on his mountain bike when he was involved in a collision with a white Mercedes mini bus driven by a 51-year-old male from the Kendal area.

Police and ambulance attended the scene where the pedal cyclist was treated for serious head injuries before being transferred by air ambulance to the Royal Preston Hospital. He was in a serious condition.

The road was closed until approximately 8pm.

Police are appealing for any witnesses who may have been in the area at the time and may have seen either the Mercedes mini bus or the pedal cyclist to contact Cumbria Police, quoting log number 127 of Saturday 12th, and ask to speak to PC1807 Simon Eyres of the Mobile Support Group.
