Two charged with murder over fatal stabbing at New Year’s party

Written by on 16/07/2019

Two men have been charged with murder over a fatal stabbing at a New Year’s party in north London last year.

Steven Narvaez-Jara was killed at a flat in Bartholomew Court, Islington, in the early hours of 1 January 2018.

The 20-year-old, from Belvedere, which straddles London and Kent, was found suffering stab wounds and died at the scene, with another man, also 20, later recovering from similar injuries.

Daniel Previous Lena, 19, of Staveley Close, Hackney, and Ramani Boreland, 20, of Ambleside Close, Hackney, were arrested in the days after the murder.

Mohammed Musse, 20, of Spotter House, Berger Road, Hackney, was arrested on the day.

All three suspects were bailed after being released under investigation last November, but police issued them with charges via postal requisition on 6 July.

Lena and Boreland were charged with murder and violent disorder, with Musse charged solely of violent disorder.

They will all appear a magistrates’ court on Thursday.

Police are continuing to investigate the murder, which was one of four in the space of just a few days spanning a series of unrelated violent incidents in the capital over the New Year period.
