Man faces jail for using fake membership card at Lord’s cricket ground

Written by on 25/01/2020

A man who faked a membership card to get access to an exclusive area of Lord’s cricket ground has been told he could go to jail.

James Lattimer, 51, from Bournemouth, bought the card on eBay and used it to get into a members-only area after buying the cheapest ticket to get into the famous London ground.

Prosecutor Jonathan Bryan said Lattimer had changed the photo on the card to one of himself, and there was no record of him being a member.

There is a 29-year waiting list for membership and it costs £1,000, Hendon Magistrates’ Court heard.

District Judge Angus Hamilton told Lattimer that his crime warranted custodial sentence.

“All sentencing options will be available to the court,” he said.

Lattimer was caught last August and pleaded guilty to fraud in November.

He has been bailed and will be sentenced at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 12 February.
