Former Blue Peter presenter John Leslie has been accused of sexually assaulting a woman in London more than a decade ago.
Scotland Yard said the 54-year-old, from Edinburgh, was “charged by postal requisition on Wednesday 5 June with sexual touching of a woman aged 16 or over, contrary to Section 3 of the Sexual Offences Act 2003”.
The force said the allegation relates to an incident in Westminster in December 2008, when the victim was aged 30.
Detectives are continuing to investigate the claim and Leslie, who presented Blue Peter from 1989 to 1994, is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 25 July.
Leslie is also known for a three-year stint on ITV’s This Morning, running from 1999 to 2002, and appeared on the game shows Wheel Of Fortune and Survivor during the same period.
