Coronavirus: Sky News series examines life after the pandemic

A Nobel Prize-winning economist will be among the distinguished guests taking part in a special series on Sky News next week, looking at how the world might change following COVID-19.
After The Pandemic: Our New World will air from Monday to Thursday at 8pm.
Those offering their insights include Sir Jeremy Farrar, a leading member of the Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (SAGE), and director of the Wellcome Trust.
China’s ambassador to the UK, Liu Xiaoming, will also be talking to presenter Dermot Murnaghan, as will former foreign secretary David Miliband and economist Joseph Stiglitz.
Sky News specialists including science correspondent Thomas Moore, economics editor Ed Conway, foreign affairs editor Deborah Haynes and deputy political editor Sam Coates will also be contributing through the week.
Sky News viewers will be asking questions about how the pandemic could change their environment. Anyone wanting to take part should email AfterThePandemic@sky.uk.
The programmes will also feature the results of an exclusive poll about how life may differ once the crisis is over.
Disrupting the usual news schedule for four consecutive days, the one-off series will be split into four areas.
On Monday 1 June it will be THE WORLD AT LARGE – How will our new world work?
Questions to be discussed include: Has the post-war order collapsed, and what are the roles of the USA and China?
On Tuesday 2 June it is THE ECONOMY & WORK – What should we value in future?
Subjects to be probed include: What has this period done for our value of key workers and the NHS? Will working from home now be the new normal, and what will be the implications of that?
On Wednesday 3 June it is SCIENCE & MEDICINE – How can we stop this happening again?
Two of the questions will be: how do we stop this happening again, and will a vaccine ever be found?
And on Thursday 4 June it is LIFE & SOCIETY – Will life as we knew it ever return and what will our new lives look like?
In this programme, it will be relationships that are under the microscope. How has the period of lockdown affected connections with family and friends? And has life changed forever?
